Your Profile

You are a part-qualified Trainee Patent Attorney with a minimum of 12 months experience, looking to make a career-defining leap for your next role. You should possess an excellent honours degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biology or related discipline and a PhD would also be advantageous. You should be able to demonstrate an excellent level of competency in your IP career to date, in either private practice or industry, and be able to communicate confidently to develop excellent working relationships with colleagues and clients. You must have passed your UK Foundation examinations and have acquired drafting experience.

The Role

This is a newly created position in a highly successful and profitable Life Sciences group, where you will draw upon your experience to liaise extensively between Partners and Associates. This is a uniquely positioned role that would suit an existing Technical Assistant with strong interpersonal skills who can lend their passion for biochemistry to complement a fantastic patent team. You will be actively involved with a very broad client base from multinational companies and SMEs, to University spin offs and lone inventors, so direct client contact is actively encouraged; opportunities are available to visit clients in the UK and internationally. Their paralegal support infrastructure is also first-class, so Attorneys are encouraged to manage their own portfolio of clients, with the support of other Attorneys and Partners too.

The Company

You'll be joining a hugely reputable UK firm who are genuinely progressive and outward looking as a practice. Their culture is very team-oriented and they pride themselves on the longevity of careers as turnover is extremely low by industry standards. Client care is at the very core of how they operate, so their business model is commercially oriented, so a hands-on approach to managing clients is wholly encouraged. The firm offer a very transparent, fulfilling and meritocratic career path with benefits to include annual bonuses, private healthcare, generous pension contributions and holiday entitlement. Theirs is a very rewarding environment to work, and wholly indicative of how well they tend to retain talent in their organisation.
