Do you have experience of bioinformatics or computational biology in your patent attorney career to date? Have you gained exposure to digital technology in life sciences?

The Person

You are a progressive part-qualified (or qualified) patent attorney with specific experience of bioinformatics and computational biology looking to move into a key position with one of the most prestigious firms in London. You possess a first-class honours degree background in a Biotechnology or Life Sciences subject and should also be competent at handling a range of patent portfolios with organisations of all sizes. Previous IP experience of the following would be advantageous:

• Some genomics and sequencing projects from qualifications and experience.
• Strong in molecular biology (with a combination of both bioinformatics and wet lab experience)
• Strong on the statistics/computational side of the technology

You should possess genuine drive, gravitas and determination to exceed expectations in the IP profession, and take pride in the quality of service and commercial advice you offer clients. Essentially, you are looking to stretch yourself professionally, and be rewarded for it.

The Role

A brand new position, this role will enable the successful Patent Attorney to gain increased exposure to some truly pioneering digital technology with pivotal blue-chip, SME and University clients both home and abroad. You will enjoy considerable responsibility and autonomy for a significant portfolio, with genuine scope for business development across directed evolution, personalised medicine, genomics and connected health sectors.

Attorneys in the firm are exposed to much more variety of biotechnology work than other traditional practices, as caseloads derive from a variety of Partners so you can expect both a high quality and a high volume of challenging caseloads to encompass contentious and litigious areas of IP.
