Are you a talented Journalist or Editor hoping to work for a well-respected News Publication?

This company are a retail marketing specialist who can connect you to the heart of the independent news and convenience market. With a portfolio spanning print titles, networking events and online hubs, everything they do is aimed at helping independent retailers run better and more profitable businesses. As a Features Editor you will be responsible for delivering features, digital content and news that makes this company the first choice magazine for proactive and forward-thinking independent retailers. With a great reputation and central offices, this is the perfect opportunity for driven individuals to work a fantastic publication.

The Role
* To generate ideas for articles, encourage your colleagues to do the same and recommend to the editor which copy should be published in which issues.
* To plan ahead so all work is produced to the agreed standard and published within set deadlines.
* To manage the day-to-day running of the features desk and the organisation of editorial staff to support the editor and associate editor.
* To be the editorial contact for all clients enquiring about features and supplements.
* To write features and some news as part of the editorial team, developing your own areas of specialist knowledge.
* To commission content from colleagues, freelance journalists and specialist contributors; briefing them, copy editing their work, challenging them to produce good work and sending it back with queries or request for rewrites if necessary.
* To network well with key industry decision makers and to attend industry events, seminars, conferences, trade fairs and meetings.

The Person
* Ability to understand and represent readers, demonstrated by examples of effective communication, creative presentation and product development. Ability to produce creative, accurate and innovative copy in print and digitally.
* Capable of solving problems, seizing opportunities, planning and organising workload effectively.
* Experience of commissioning and managing reporters, demonstrated by examples of how you have got the best out of them.
* Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of how features support sales objectives.
* Track record of working as a reporter or senior reporter on features and news on a major B2B title.
