Are you looking for an industry role to further your IP career? Do you dream of working with R&D stakeholders to shape and strategise patent portfolios?

The Company

- Globally renowned and respected within their industrial sector, this pioneering international brand operates at the cutting edge of technology. Their investment in intellectual property is particularly impressive, and their patent and trademark portfolio is expanding rapidly. Attorneys are highly valued and work with a high degree of autonomy.

- The culture is very collaborative and supportive, as employees are highly valued and retained at all levels within the organisation. A commitment to investing in highly skilled and talented individuals sets them apart from their competitors, and they are genuinely regarded as an employer of choice in their sector.

- They offer a very competitive remuneration and benefits package, to include company car, bonus scheme, generous pension and private healthcare.

The Role

- This newly created position will be pivotal to the on-going development of this very well established industry team. Your core accountabilities will include a high volume of patent drafting and prosecution, but you will also be expected to frequently liaise with other commercial departments within the group.

- R&D relationships are critical to the company's IP success, so maintaining internal customer relations with inventors and scientists is of paramount importance.

- Progression within this appointment is achievable for the right individual. You will lend your own experience to internal succession planning, whilst keeping fully abreast of your own professional objectives and IP department targets. Therefore, you must also possess the natural gravitas to influence at a high level and engage decision makers from non-patent related backgrounds.

The Person

- You are a qualified European Patent Attorney EPA (or CPA) with a technical background principally derived from Physical Scicences and Mechanical/Materials related technology looking to progress your career within an in-house IP department.

- You will have a proven history of patent drafting and prosecution, as well as experience of contentious caseloads to include Oppositions, Appeals and I&V.

- Coupled with your technical ability will be your experience of liaising with non-patent professionals about IP strategy, so you must also have first-class communication skills. Ostensibly, you possess sharp commercial acumen and understand the value of intellectual property on a global scale.
