The Person
You are currently a Patent Paralegal with a minimum of two years relevant experience, possessing IP professional services support exposure within a private practice, law firm or in-house environment. You should have acquired the following skillset:
* CIPA Administrator and/or CITMA Paralegal qualification
* Experience of working in a role where high levels of concentration and meticulous attention to detail are critical.
* Ability to work in a methodical manner and adopt a logical approach to individual tasks.
* Ability to move to different stages in the process to complete each task assigned.
* Ability to prioritise and manage fluctuating workloads, demands and deadlines.
* Ability to learn the preferences / requirements of multiple Paralegals / Patent Attorneys and clients and adapting approach to meet their needs.
* Writes and speaks with ease.
* Ability to develop strong working relationships with colleagues and clients
The Role
This is a key appointment in a busy legal support team, so you'll be complimenting an existing legal function with a rich diet of varied and interesting work:
* Give paralegal support including audio typing, copy typing, generating standard letters, and creating invoices for charging clients.
* Deal with incoming paralegal work without supervision.
* Keep reminders for each case of the Patent Attorney and ensure that these are kept up to date.
* Help to keep Patent Attorney diaries, booking appointments and knowing their whereabouts.
* Taking messages, checking e-mails, and making sure that anything requiring urgent attention is dealt with by another Patent Attorney.
* Delegating work to Paralegal Assistants and giving them ad hoc training.
* Having responsibility for case files.
* Meeting urgent legal deadlines.
