Press Officer 12 Month FTC (Mat Cover) .

Leading B2B membership body seek a talented Press Officer to join their team on a 12-month fixed term contract. This role is integral to the communications team it will include working on frontline media coverage, managing reactive enquiries and representing the work of the company to its members and stakeholders. You will also apply your broader communications expertise to helping with the production of articles, blogs and digital content and will act as an adviser on communications strategy to all tiers of the business.

Role and Responsibilities:

• To proactively generate media opportunities, working closely with policy colleagues to make sure the media work helps to achieve their wider objectives and those of their members
• To deal with reactive enquiries quickly and effectively
• To acquire and confidently grasp technical and complex policy issues affecting the industry, and be able to turn this into clear messages which get traction with media.
• To be a good written communicator capable of tailoring articles, comment, press releases, social media content, speeches and briefings to a wide range of audiences.
• To devise and implement digital content ideas for the website and across social media platforms.

Skills and Experience

• Demonstrable experience of working in PR, journalism or media relations.
• Demonstrable experience of using digital and social media in a professional context, including content creation and a knowledge of social media analytics.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills, and the ability to develop clear and concise messages tailored to a range of audiences.
• The ability to master a complex subject area in a way which earns trust and confidence, both internally and externally.
• The ability to produce written work of a high quality which communicates complex information and ideas in clear and imaginative ways.
