The Person

You are a qualified Patent Attorney (CPA and/or EPA) with a background in Computer Science, and hands-on experience of AI/Machine Learning patent drafting and prosecution. You should possess a strategic, commercially focused and inquisitive approach to IP and genuine enthusiasm for your subject matter. Developing strong client relationships is second-nature to you, as is your ability to advise and instruct stakeholders from many different backgrounds. The Role

Sitting in the Commercial & Technology team, the patents practice supports the firm's broader legal practice but is a key practice group within its own right. Clients include start ups, pre-revenue SMEs, established commercial entities and intermediaries.

This patent attorney role has a high level of responsibility, and should attract an attorney who is attracted by the prospect of being a pivotal driver of the patent practice with direct clients. The scope for business development is excellent, supported by an unrivalled internal network. Further accountabilities include:

- Patent drafting and prosecution;
- FTO analysis;
- Contentious areas of IP to include Oppositions, Appeals and I&V;
- Regular client liaison with a direct client base in the UK and overseas.

The Company

But they are also more than just a law firm; they're active investors in legal technology and artificial intelligence. Their portfolio structure allows them to support clients with integrated legal, consulting and technology solutions - helping them manage risk, take informed decisions and leverage valuable networks.

Their clients are disrupting markets through new technology and novel services and so they demand lawyers who can not only understand their technology but who can also understand their business and can provide innovative solutions.
