Trade Mark Attorney / Soft IP Solicitor

London / Hybrid

£60,000 - £80,000 + excellent benefits package

The Person

* Be qualified as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney; qualified E&W solicitor; or barrister with 2-4 years' PQE
* Be registered as a European Trade Mark Attorney / European qualified lawyer (EU nationality would be a bonus, but is absolutely not a requirement)
* Have previous experience in the field of Soft IP, ideally in an international or IP boutique law firm, or an otherwise proven passion for Soft IP
* Be fluent in English (other language skills welcome and encouraged)
* Be a motivated relationship builder, have a willingness to assume responsibility in a growing team from day one, as well as have a "hands on" mentality
* Have the ability and willingness to work well independently and also as a member of a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, international team
* Be highly credible, with good business judgement and thought processes, supported by a diplomatic approach and sound decision-making skills
* Possess first-class interpersonal skills, and use these to actively build relationships internally and externally with both fee earners and non-fee earners, colleagues, clients and contacts alike;
* Possess excellent time management skills and understand the importance of working efficiently and within clients' financial budgets

The Role

* Advising national and international clients on all issues relating to the protection and enforcement of trade marks, designs and copyright as well as unfair competition law, including custom seizure matters, filing strategies and IP related contracts
o Researching existing trade marks and designs to advise on availability
o Guiding clients through the legal aspects of introducing new products to the market
o Conducting clearance searches and advising on results
o Drawing up contracts and overseeing the trade mark and design registration process
o Directly filing and prosecuting UK, and Madrid trade mark applications before the UK IPO and WIPO; Working with our Munich-based colleagues to handle the filing and enforcement of EUTMs before the EU IPO;)and liaising with overseas associates to prosecute overseas trade mark applications (
o Handling opposition, revocation and invalidation proceedings before the UKIPO (occasional support for solicitor colleagues handling UK Court litigation as appropriate - prior UK Court litigation experience will be valued)
o Working with overseas associates to prosecute and manage Oppositions, Cancellation actions, litigation and/or other matters in overseas territories
