We are seeking an experienced DevOps Lead to shape and lead a new DevOps function within the business. The role will have an initial focus on a current project delivery to develop an AWS-native product, with the ownership for managing deployments and monitoring the DevOps pipeline as the product evolves and transitions into live service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take a lead and ownership of the DevOps practices and tooling that align to our Development Processes and Test Strategy.
  • Identify work to be undertaken by the DevOps team and oversee that it is completed on-time to meet project objectives and to a satisfactory level of quality.
  • Manage deployments, operations, and monitoring through the DevOps process to identify opportunities for further improvement and to recognize and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with internal project teams to ensure DevOps processes are understood and applied, as well as identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Engage with developers, testers, and other resources both in the UK and offshore.

Key Attributes & Skills:

  • Over 5 years' practical experience focused on DevOps and associated practices in a software development context.
  • A sound understanding of the software development lifecycle in an Agile delivery environment.
  • Capability to mentor and support junior members of a DevOps team.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of DevOps tooling used for AWS deployments.
  • Proactive in proposing enhancements to the pipeline processes to improve efficiency and promote quality.

Desirable:

  • Practical experience working with Bitbucket for source control, AWS CodePipeline for CI/CD, Postman and Selenium for automated testing, SonarCloud or SonarQube for code checking, AWS CloudFormation for deployment of AWS resources, Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) and configuration management, and AWS serverless technologies, including Lambda, S3 and Aurora.
